Tips for great wedding photographs

1. If the wedding photographs are important to you make sure you set enough time during the day for photography. This does not mean that you have to spend 2 hours after the wedding taking photographs. You can do some of the photos of before the wedding. Even if you don't want to see each other before the ceremony, you can still take some photos of the girls together, guys together, bride with family, groom with family, etc. but set aside time before the ceremony for those photos to take place and try your best to be ready on time. Give yourself some extra time in case things take longer than you think getting ready. So what if you are ready on time and look fabulous an extra hour. Talk with your photographer before the wedding to get an idea of how long it will take to take all the photos you want.

2. Photos of the bride getting ready are very popular these days and there are some great photographs to be taken during this very emotional time. If possible, have your bridal party dressed and ready to go before you start getting into your dress. Those photos of you getting ready with your beautiful bridesmaids help will be cherished forever.

3. Do an engagement session with your photographer. I love doing engagement sessions and my clients love them too. After the experience, they tell me they are so glad that we did the session. Not only will you have some great photos of the two of you to use for cards, during the reception, slide shows, etc. You will also get to know your photographers style of working and become more comfortable with them. During the wedding day photo sessions you will be able to relax and enjoy the process knowing the photographer is getting exactly what you want.

4. Make sure you feel comfortable with your photographer. From the first consultation you should feel at ease with the photographer you choose.
